New Year celebrations are set to continue in King’s Lynn with a flash of colour as the Vancouver Quarter prepares to mark the Year of the Dog with the first Saturday Club of 2018.
Families are being encouraged to get creative on Saturday, January 27 in the shopping centre and join the workshop fun and make spinning dragons, Year of the Dog stained-glass pictures and Chinese dragon puppets to herald in the Chinese New Year, which starts on February 16.
“We always like to celebrate Chinese New Year here in the Vancouver Quarter, and it is the perfect time to start this year’s Saturday Clubs,” said Abbie Panks, Centre Manager.
“These free events hosted by the Vancouver Quarter bring people into the centre to experience something different each month. Our Saturday Clubs proved popular last year, so much so that we have planned a whole calendar of Saturday Clubs for the year ahead.”
Across the globe the New Year will be welcomed with a riot of colour and noise, as families gather to celebrate with fire crackers, lion dancers and the lucky red envelopes which usually have monetary gifts for younger members.
The Vancouver Quarter team is also planning a calendar of events with a Valentine’s Workshop next month, a Mother’s Day Photoshoot and an egg-citing Easter Trail and workshop following in March. There will also be a special workshop collaboration this year with True’s Yard Museum and Festival Too.
The Mini Beast bug trail will return for another year as will the Mods and Rockers spectacular and the hugely popular Fairy tales and Legends in the summer.
