Looking forward to Christmas in King’s Lynn

There’s so much going on in King’s Lynn in the run-up to Christmas that there will be plenty of great reasons for visitors to Discover King’s Lynn this festive season.

With fantastic Late-Night Shopping events, an enchanting Christmas market and the return of Father and Mother Christmas to their busy grotto, there will be some great events activities in the heart of the town centre.

But all of this follows one of the biggest events in the King’s Lynn calendar – the Christmas Lights switch on that promises to be an afternoon of festive fun on Sunday, November 25 when crowds are once again expected in the town.

Starting at noon, there will be street entertainers, a glitter bar and face-painters, music and family-focused activities, plus the chance to children to have a quick chat with

ally launch this year’s Christmas grotto.

From 2pm the historic Tuesday Market Place will buzz with live entertainment as the main stage opens with host a selection of special guests and entertainment, including some top local bands performing including Bear Club with some great Christmas classics to get you feeling festive ahead of the countdown shortly after 4.30pm.

Speaking of the pantomime, tickets are still available for the show which stars King’s Lynn’s very own Victoria Bush who has starred in TV’s Bad Girls and Waterloo Road. KL.FM’s very own ‘Posh Charles’ will also be taking to the boards once again alongside family favourite Ian Marr who is appearing in his 17th panto.

Shows run from Friday December 7 to Monday, December 31, including a relaxed autism-friendly performance on Thursday, December 20 and a signed performance on Thursday, December 27.

Late Night Shopping launches on Thursday, November 29. Stores around the town centre will remain open until 8pm and will be accompanied by festive street entertainers, music and activities for all the family to enjoy on all the remaining Thursdays leading up to Christmas.

The town’s beautiful Minster on the Saturday Market Place will be hosting a very special Carol Service on Thursday, December 6 in aid of the East Anglian Children’s Hospice charity and the evening begins at 6.30pm.

The Norfolk-based organisation works tirelessly to look after children with life-limiting conditions and was chosen by the Vancouver Quarter as its charity of the year to support.

The first Christmas market last year was so popular that it’s back on November

29.  Around 60 traders will set-up all around the town selling a whole range of Norfolk handmade wares – perfect for finding unique presents for all the family.

This market, which will be sited on both market places, and throughout the town will complement retailers in King’s Lynn who are gearing up to help bring the town to life this Christmas.

There will be an array of entertainment throughout the event including live music, face painters, glitter bar and show-stopping street entertainment including LED drummers ‘Spark’ who combine high-impact drumming, dynamic choreography and beautiful lighting design culminating in a huge climax of light, sound, smoke and movement- this is a performance not to be missed!

With more than 200 independent businesses in the town centre, there is also a strong line up of High Street brands including Marks and Spencer, Debenhams and Boots alongside River Island, Primark, and Next, Sainsbury’s, TK Maxx, and New Look as well as an assortment of independent fashion, gift and lifestyle stores.

And whilst you’re browsing all the shops in King’s Lynn, why not treat yourself to a hot chocolate or mulled wine at one of the fantastic coffee shops, bars and restaurants in the town.
