Steady hands were needed as eight businesses from around King’s Lynn attempted to avoid the buzzer in the final Vancouver Quarter Business Challenge of 2017.
The Mystery Challenge has previously seen teams playing mini golf, having a dance off on arcade machines, and taking part in an Army Command Task challenge but the Beat the Buzzer competition proved to be the toughest one to date.
The winning team came from Ward Gethin Archer who pipped Wilko to the title in a narrow grand final. Third space went to Ring Associates, and fourth place went to Studio20a. Boots, Primark, Your Local Paper and Barclays completed the list of participating teams.
For a second Vancouver Quarter Business Challenge in a row, bonus points were awarded to Ring Associates for recording the quickest time while Your Local Paper were rewarded for averaging the least penalties for tapping the wire.
“We always enjoy coming up with our Mystery Challenges and it was great to see how much fun all our teams had in attempting to navigate this giant buzz wire,” said Vancouver Quarter marketing and events assistant David Blackmore.
“My thanks to all those who took part, especially the team from Barclays who came along for the first time, and to those who have entered a team into each of our four challenges this year. My thanks also to Dick Ropa Entertainments for providing the Giant Buzz Wire.
“We really hope all the businesses have enjoyed taking part, and that these challenges went some way to helping their staff bond and network with fellow companies in the town.”
The first event of 2017, a traditional pancake race held in February, was won jointly by Studio20a and Hayes + Storr solicitors. This was followed by egg and spoon racing in April, which was won by Wilko.
Our third challenge, pedal kart racing on the Tuesday Market Place in September, was won by Boots.
